Prevent nutrient deficiencies like a pro. Plagron has developed this calcium and magnesium base nutrient especially for soft and reverse osmosis (RO) water.
Supplies essential calcium
Calcium is the main component in cell wall formation. It’s what keeps stems strong and gives leaves the structural integrity to perform photosynthesis. Without calcium, your plants will wither and their leaves will show brown spots. Yields will stay small and may die off completely. Even if you grow larger fruits and flowers with a calcium deficiency, your plants won’t have the strength to support them.
Adequate calcium is especially important during the flowering stage, as growth rapidly accelerates and then stops completely. It’s vital to catch plants in this peak growth period if you want to see maximum yields.
Plagron Cal-Mag supplies calcium at a rate of 4.1% - enough to keep your soft water plants perfectly balanced.
Source of magnesium
It might be no surprise that magnesium is the second vital ingredient in Cal-Mag. Magnesium is just as important for successful flowering; it’s responsible for producing chlorophyll. Without chlorophyll, there would be no photosynthesis.
You can spot a magnesium deficiency by a reddish or purplish tint, brown spots, or a burnt appearance to leaves. Leaves may turn yellow, while their veins stay green (chlorosis).
Because of its role in photosynthesis, magnesium is particularly important if you’re using powerful lights like LEDs and HPS lights. Plagron Cal-Mag is formulated for hydroponic and indoor-grown plants - so there’ll be enough magnesium to go around.
Designed for soft and RO water
For the most part, soft water is a grower’s dream. It has a more neutral pH than hard water and is easier to stabilise. It has a lower EC, meaning there are fewer issues with nutrient lockout. It also leaves fewer mineral deposits in the substrate which can build up and obstruct the root system.
Reverse osmosis (RO) is a filtration process that provides all the benefits of soft water and removes up to 99% of contaminants. It produces pure, fresh, soft, and stable water - there’s no wonder it’s a popular choice for growers.
However, the lower mineral content of soft water and RO water means it can lack calcium and magnesium.
Plagron Cal-Mag is created with these types of water in mind - so you can have all the benefits without the risk of mineral deficiency.
Great for coco
Not only is Plagron Cal-Mag a lifesaver in soft water, but it’s just as useful for coco. You should always supplement calcium and magnesium when growing in this substrate.
Coco’s fibrous nature makes it effective in absorbing nutrient solution - but it’s known to keep some for itself. Coco has a high cation exchange and holds on to calcium and magnesium while sending potassium and magnesium back into the substrate.
You’ll need to introduce higher quantities of Cal-Mag than with your hydroponic or soil-grown plants to make sure they take in enough.
Added nitrogen
Calcium and magnesium are pretty obvious for a Cal-Mag!
However, it also contains 5% nitrogen to keep everything running smoothly. Nitrogen is an essential primary nutrient responsible for almost all functions of a plant, including:
- Photosynthesis;
- Transpiration;
- Nutrient uptake;
- Formation of amino acids which make plant proteins.
How to use Plagron Cal-Mag Pro?
- Plagron Cal-Mag Pro is a base nutrient and can be used every time you water. It’s suitable for any substrate including soil, hydro, coco, and other soilless media.
- Dilute 1ml of Cal-Mag Pro per litre of water and apply it throughout the flowering stage as part of your usual watering routine.
- Use with your favourite additives for maximum results!
- Store this solution in a cool, dry place between 5℃ and 35℃.
