Why Your Plants Need Full Spectrum LED Light?

The key benefit of our LED grow light is its remarkable ability to mimic natural sunlight by emitting a full spectrum of light. Red and blue light wavelengths activate photosynthesis, but are not the only wavelengths plants need. Oversaturating your plants with only red and blue wavelengths actually causes them to go dormant, leading to under produced plants.

By using LED Light with full spectrum, which appears as white light, it induces your plants to undergo natural photorespiration. While that will force them to work harder, it also leads more efficient nutrient intake. You end up with sturdier plants, healthier growth, and increased yields.
Increased Efficiency

The Spectrum King LED 400+ Grow Light offers the same light intensity as a high pressure sodium bulb and offers a lumen output that is comparable to HPS bulbs operating at 1000-Watts to your plant canopy.Better suited for light-hungry plants and strains the 450W LED light is perfect for plants that are particularly sensitive while only using a fraction of the energy.

While it offers the same intensity as a 1000-watt HPS bulb, our 450W LED grow light uses only a fraction of electricity while emitting only about 1,350 BTUs of heat. That all equates to big energy savings of over 60% in energy costs and a light that produces less heat than most of the competitors. Those energy savings equate to lower utility bills since your HVAC appliances are used less to combat the high temps common with HPS rooms. A typical return on investment is less than a year for small grows and up to18 months for commercial grow operations.

The 400+ series can be custom fit to your application with different reflectors for maximum coverage and depth. Based on your coverage area and the height of your current plants, you may select from a variety of reflectors, including:

· 90° reflectors
· 120° reflectors

IP65 CERTIFIED

Spectrum King LED Grow Lights are recognized by the international standard that designates products fit for use in wet and humid conditions. Very few companies that make grow lights qualify for this certification which is why we designed our lights with IP65 ratings in mind as most indoor gardens and commercial greenhouses have wet and humid environments creating challenges for gardeners. Our IP65 housings make clean up easy and you can foliar spray your canopies without worrying about damage to the lights internal components.

How To Hang Spectrum King LED Grow Lights

Correctly hanging grow lights ensures proper coverage and safety. Fortunately, we make it simple to do. Your standard rope ratchet rated at 40 lbs. will easily hold your lights, which weigh 7 to 26 lbs. depending upon the model and options chosen.

Please note that most rope ratchets have carabiners too small to fit our lights, which is why we recommend using the attached “S” hook as it makes it so much easier to hang the light. You can use the additional bracket to hang the light at an angle of your choice from a fixed position or take it off and use the center ring to hang the light.
Placement of Lights

Lighting fixtures work best when shared. By placing lights in close proximity to each other, plants that would otherwise be on the periphery receive more light from both lamps, thereby increasing their productivity in what is known as cross illumination. Please review the footprint that works best for your application of light.

One widely used method to determine a lamp’s intensity over time is the Inverse Square Law. As a general rule of thumb these results can be found in most lighting scenarios and is only being used here as a guideline. Using different reflectors that focus light into a narrow region such as our 90* reflector will change the outcome of these values greatly as will our 120* reflector.

Once your lamp is properly secured to the ceiling, you must determine the appropriate hanging height above your plant canopy. Light intensity diminishes at an exponential rate; therefore, the closer you hang your light, the greater its effect will be. With LEDs plants can touch the lamp without suffering heat damage to the plant. However, the light is too intense for most plants to be any closer than 24” of our light source*

*Applies to SK600 light only

Coverage Areas

Raising the light higher above your plants increases the light coverage, but also decreases the light intensity. Therefore, it is important that you find the appropriate balance between intensity and coverage. Each Spectrum King LED grow light has a been rated to cover a determined area.

90° reflector: Covers 4’ x 4’ area at 18” above the canopy for normal plants and should be placed up to 24” above the canopy during flower for sensitive plants. It can cover up to an 8’ x 8’ area for vegetative plants at 4’ above the canopy. The 400+ 90° reflector unit is meant for plants 2.5’-6’ tall during flower and is recommended for ceilings that are 8’-11’ tall.

120° reflector: Covers 5’ x 5’ area at 12” above the canopy during flower for normal plants and should be placed up to 18” above the canopy for sensitive strains. It can cover an 8’ x 8” area in vegetative plants at 3.5’ above the canopy. The 400+ 120° reflector unit is meant for plants 18”-42” tall during flower and is your best choice for ceilings under 8’ tall.
